Investment in small, locally defined areas and neighborhoods may prove more successful than the billion$ spent in this same effort by federal, state, local governments and nonprofits.
More specifically East Lake Meadows (a.k.a. Villages of East Lake) for example that was started in the mid 1990s. It is a mixed income development, cradle-to-college preparation; a new charter K-8 school; and job and health opportunities. Crime is down well over 50% and employment up well over 50%.
The question: Are other local communities facing the same challenges willing to look at this Model for Revitalization and make a commitment to implement it?
