Are whistleblowers protected from retaliation?

That depends on “where” crimes occur that they want to report and the interpretation of the Dodd-Frank Law (i.e., the whisteblower non-retaliation protections) and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Apparently, US law (2010 Dodd-Frank) doesn’t protect a whistleblower (i.e., prohibition of retaliation against the whistleblower) beyond the US borders, even though other securities law extend beyond them.

So I guess the US Government allows certain crimes not to go unpunished: especially to those whistleblowers who report them!
