Property Tax Exemptions for Seniors

In many counties across the US, there are property tax exemptions from local school taxes to those citizens who’ve reached 62 years or older, depending on the local laws.

Arguments normally arise by younger taxpayers that this is unfair. Older taxpayers believe that since they no longer have children of school age K-12, they are not directly benefiting from such taxes

Shortage of revenue and stringent budgets for the local schools normally intensify the debate.
